A Difficult Mission: Dutch Austerity measures on the municipal level
Austerity measures taken by local governments can scarcely be called a recent phenomenon. Every year the expenses go up, while revenue, especially revenue coming from the State level, goes down. This is true during the financial crisis we are in, but has been a trend before as well.

The new safety regions and the impact on public management

Historically, Dutch local government was responsible for the preparation of crises and disasters. In 2010, due to austerity measures, this responsibility was transferred to hybrid regional governments called safety regions. This article examines the impact of this on the safety concerns of Dutch citizens.

What Factors influence the Use of open source in Municipalities?

Open source software (OSS) provides many benefits that closed source (proprietary) software does not. Users have the freedom to study, change and redistribute OSS. It cannot be the exclusive property of a single software vendor and it is often available without license costs; the market for OSS has therefore been growing. Author: Alexander van Loon
